Wedding in Marzamemi tuna’s factory
Marzamemi’s tuna factory (tonnara) is one of the oldest and most important tuna factories of the whole Sicily. Andrew and Sarah, a fantastic couple in love with Italy and its beauties, chose the Tonnara as their dream wedding venue.
The building has two main spaces: Palazzo Villadorata and the Loggia. The latter is a wide room with several tuff arcades, overlooking the old fishermen’s port. It originally served as a shelter for the tuna-fishing boats (called scieri). The Loggia leads towards a private garden, whose old portal overlooks the main square of Marzamemi, Piazza Regina Margherita. The Palace too, magnificent example of Sicilian Baroque, dominates the same square. The Tonnara is, therefore, a small paradise full of beauty, history, tradition, culture: a perfect location for celebrating a couple in love with both elegance and a pinch of tradition.
The wedding was planned in detail by Cristina Ditta and Wedding Sicily. Nina e I Fiori curated the simple and romantic flower arrangements. Up to us (and to the talented photographer Nancy Ebert) to narrate the emotions of the day: Andrew’s tension while he was getting ready, Sarah’s smile while she is surrounded by her bridesmaids, the moving vows, the joyful “I do”, and, at last, the party, bright and cheerful as the life they are going to live together.
A perfect day, full of complicity, amusement, emotion, nurtured by the poetry of the Sicilian sun and sea. A great love lesson whose memory will stay with us forever!
